It only places them next to a claim they are frequently invoked alongside, and marks the line between the two clearly.

The claim: that a controlling system deliberately strips memory or awareness at a point of transition, keeping the subject from retaining what came before.

The documented case: CIA Project ARTICHOKE, the direct predecessor to MKUltra, produced total amnesia in overseas interrogation subjects as a stated operational objective. The July 1952 Artichoke Cases report describes two subjects who, following hypnosis and sodium pentothal administration, exhibited total amnesia in the professional judgment of the interrogation team, one confirmed on the day of the operation and one confirmed the following day after further drug administration.

Where the record stops: ARTICHOKE documents a US intelligence program deliberately inducing amnesia in specific human subjects for interrogation purposes. It says nothing about memory suppression at birth, reincarnation, or any mechanism operating outside individual human agents using known pharmacology and hypnosis. The claim: that a controlling system deliberately manufactures and sustains fear in a population to keep it compliant and prevent organized resistance.

The documented case: The FBI's COINTELPRO program, active from 1956 to 1971, used a documented technique internally called the snitch jacket, deliberately making genuine members of an organization appear to be informants, alongside fabricated correspondence, forged documents, and anonymous tips designed to isolate and destabilize targets through manufactured suspicion and fear within their own communities. The program's own 1956 authorization memo states its purpose as to expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize.

Where the record stops: COINTELPRO documents a specific US government program targeting specific named political organizations and individuals over a fifteen-year period, confirmed by the Church Committee. It is not evidence of a metaphysical or species-wide fear mechanism. It is evidence that fear-based compliance techniques were formally developed, named, and deployed by a real government agency, which is a different and narrower claim.

The claim: that some overseeing system deliberately generates or harvests distress, suffering, or negative emotional states from humans as an operational resource.

The documented case: A 1972 Defense Intelligence Agency assessment, Controlled Offensive Behavior USSR, concludes the Soviet Union operated twenty or more research centers studying telepathic communication, telekinetics, and behavior modification as offensive weapons capabilities under KGB oversight, with an annual budget the DIA estimated as high as 21 million dollars. The report treats psychic and behavioral influence research as a credible state weapons priority requiring a formal American intelligence response.

Where the record stops: This document establishes that a real intelligence agency formally assessed a rival state's psychic and behavioral research program as a weapons threat serious enough to warrant classified analysis and a funded American countermeasure. It does not establish that psychic influence, emotional harvesting, or telekinetic weapons capability actually exist or function as described. It establishes that a government took the question seriously enough to classify its assessment of the question.

The claim: that consciousness projected outside ordinary embodiment can encounter other non-physical entities, some of which are described as lower, hostile, or predatory relative to the traveler.

The documented case: A CIA document in the STARGATE collection, filed alongside the well-known Gateway Process report and titled THE MONROE INSTITUTE OF APPLIED SCIENCE SEMINAR, provides explicit protective instructions for constructing what it calls an energy balloon, stated in the document's own words to provide protection against conscious entities possessing lower energy levels which the participant might encounter in the event that he achieves an out-of-body state and projects outside the terrestrial sphere.

Where the record stops: This is a declassified US Army intelligence training document that itself describes, in its own operative language, encountering lower-energy conscious entities during projection, and provides a specific defensive technique against them. The document’s existence and its exact wording are fact. Whether the entities it describes are real is a claim the document makes about its own training method, not a claim independently verified by anything else in the declassified record.

What this page does not establish is that any metaphysical framework built on these mechanisms is true. A structural resemblance between a real interrogation technique and a claimed cosmic mechanism is not evidence the cosmic mechanism exists. The value of the pairing is narrower and, we think, more useful: it shows that several of the specific fears this framework names have real, documented, non-metaphorical instances in the human institutional record, whatever conclusion you draw from that.
