Cool as heck content, thanks for opening my mind up to this level of potential science. It would make sense if this all ends up true.

Amazing insight, thanks.

Woah, that is super interesting. Especially interesting they are still fighting to keep things classified after 40-50 years.

This actually happened? Pretty impressive

Typically I'm used to seeing news stories about tech from this year, 1964 is an interesting change of pace.

The “Real court documents, not a rant.” is the perfect closer and I applaud the inclusion...solid gold.

CIA / House Permanent Select Committee on IntelligenceFirst reported 2016. Congressional criminal referrals: October 2025.Public record: declassified IC assessments, congressional statements
PUBLIC RECORD

A former CIA officer called it the biggest cover-up of his adult life, and Congress sent criminal referrals

Havana SyndromeCIAAnomalous Health IncidentsCongress2016

Since 2016, US officials estimate at least 1,500 cases of Havana Syndrome, officially termed Anomalous Health Incidents, across 96 countries: sudden migraines, dizziness, memory lapses, and cognitive dysfunction, often beginning after victims report hearing a strange sound and feeling intense pressure in their heads. Multiple intelligence assessments have concluded it's unlikely a foreign adversary caused most cases. But that conclusion is now itself under real, formal challenge. A congressional subcommittee found evidence a 2023 assessment was developed inconsistent with analytic integrity, and in October 2025, the House Intelligence Committee sent criminal referrals to the Justice Department over how intelligence officials allegedly handled the entire matter.

Eighty years of American secrecy, in the government's own words, including the real Cold War precedent for exactly this kind of unexplained attack on American personnel.

The intelligence community's most recent unclassified assessment, covering data through December 2024, concludes it remains very unlikely or unlikely that a foreign actor caused the reported incidents, with a CIA official stating that the majority of roughly 1,000 reviewed cases could reasonably be explained by pre-existing medical conditions or environmental and technical factors. A 2020 National Academy of Sciences report reached a different conclusion, finding pulsed directed energy the most plausible explanation for a subset of cases, a real, unresolved contradiction between two credentialed bodies of experts.

A former CIA officer directly involved in early field response, using a pseudonym for safety, described the agency's handling of the matter as, in his words, the biggest cover-up of his adult life. The CIA's own internal Global Health Incident Cell, formed early in the Biden administration, concluded there was no evidence the injuries were real or foreign-caused, a finding that top current congressional overseers now say was reached through a process lacking analytic integrity. Reporting from October 2025 indicates the House Intelligence Committee sent criminal referrals to the Justice Department over potentially illegal actions by intelligence officials connected to the case, and lawmakers are now pushing for declassification of the CIA's own 2022 Inspector General report on the matter, which remains sealed.

This establishes that hundreds of American diplomats, intelligence officers, and military personnel have reported real, often debilitating symptoms since 2016, that the official cause remains formally unresolved after nearly a decade of investigation across seven intelligence agencies, and that a sitting congressional committee has found evidence of analytic misconduct serious enough to warrant criminal referrals to the Justice Department. This is confirmed by declassified intelligence community assessments and on-the-record congressional statements, not solely by victim accounts.

What this does not establish is a confirmed cause, weapon, or perpetrator. No credible evidence has been publicly presented proving a specific device or foreign actor is responsible, and the intelligence community's own standing position remains skeptical of a foreign-adversary explanation. The genuinely confirmed controversy here is about the integrity of the investigation itself, not a resolved mechanism of harm.

Assessment: Intelligence Community Anomalous Health Incidents assessment, updated through December 2024.

Congressional action: House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, criminal referrals reported October 2025.
