Cool as heck content, thanks for opening my mind up to this level of potential science. It would make sense if this all ends up true.

Amazing insight, thanks.

Woah, that is super interesting. Especially interesting they are still fighting to keep things classified after 40-50 years.

This actually happened? Pretty impressive

This is super interesting, thanks for sharing.

Typically I'm used to seeing news stories about tech from this year, 1964 is an interesting change of pace.

The “Real court documents, not a rant.” is the perfect closer and I applaud the inclusion...solid gold.

Compiled directly from the official Apollo 11 Technical Crew Debriefing (July 31, 1969), Apollo 12 mission accounts (November 1969), and Apollo 17 debriefing and photo documentation (December 1972), all released by the Department of War on May 8, 2026 via the PURSUE portal. Quotations below are taken directly from the crew's own recorded statements and the Department of Defense's own image caption.

Speaker: Buzz Aldrin, Lunar Module Pilot

The object near the moon

"The first unusual thing that we saw, I guess, was one day out or something pretty close to the moon. It had a sizeable dimension to it, so we put the monocular on it."

The crew speculated this object could have been the S-IVB stage of their own Saturn V launch vehicle, a normal component that separates during the standard mission profile.

The cabin flashes

"I was trying to go to sleep with all the lights out. I observed what I thought were little flashes inside the cabin, spaced a couple of minutes apart."

The possible laser

"I observed what appeared to be a fairly bright light source which we tentatively ascribed to a possible laser."

The declassified excerpt does not include further detail on the light's origin or confirm whether mission control offered a contemporaneous explanation.

Speaker: Alan Bean, Lunar Module Pilot

Lights sailing into space

Bean reported witnessing "flashes of light" that he described as "sailing off into space." He added that the particles appeared to be "escaping the Moon."

The landing site photograph

A photograph of the Apollo 12 lunar landing site features a highlighted area of interest slightly above the horizon in which an unidentified phenomenon is visible. The declassified release includes no official NASA explanation for the object captured in the frame.

Speakers: Eugene Cernan (Commander), Harrison Schmitt (Lunar Module Pilot, Geologist)

The Department of Defense's official photo caption, verbatim

"Three 'dots' in a triangular formation in the lower right quadrant of the lunar sky that is clearly visible upon magnification of the image."

"There is no consensus about the nature of the anomaly," but "a new, preliminary analysis indicated it could be a 'physical object.'"

This is the Department of Defense's own official characterization of its own declassified photograph, included directly in the 2026 release. It is not a third-party interpretation.

The crew's account

Commander Eugene Cernan and geologist Harrison Schmitt both described seeing very bright particles or fragments, tumbling and rotating, at a distance from their capsule.

Schmitt's description, quoted directly: the display looked "like the Fourth of July."

The transcripts and imagery above establish that four NASA astronauts across three Apollo missions independently reported observations that were not explained at the time of the missions and remain unexplained in the now-declassified record. The Department of Defense's own caption for the Apollo 17 photograph explicitly leaves open the possibility of a physical object while stating there is no consensus on the matter.

This record does not establish non-human or extraterrestrial origin for any observation. Aldrin's own account offers the S-IVB stage as a plausible explanation for the first object the crew observed. The laser reference is explicitly described by Aldrin himself as tentative. No technical follow-up analysis of the Apollo 17 photograph beyond the brief official caption is present in the declassified materials reviewed.
